A powerful earthquake magnitude 7.8 rocked Turkey early Monday, killing more than 1,500 people and injuring thousands more across the country and neighboring Syria. The earthquake, one of the strongest to hit the region in more than 100 years. Multiple strong aftershocks have been felt across the region for hours after the first quake, measuring 7.5. The true scale of the disaster emerged as the day broke. Entire city blocks were flattened by the quake, metal rods were strewn across the streets and vehicles toppled over. Rescuers are still working to free people trapped under the rubble. In Syria, a total of at least 592 people have died, including 371 mostly in the regions of Aleppo, Hama, Latakia and Tartus, according to Syrian state news agency SANA, which also reported 1,089 injuries.

Support Victims of New York's Snowstorm: Providing shelter, food and water to help people during this disaster.  Heavy snow is expected to keep falling in western New York state through Sunday after a historic storm saw the Buffalo area logging record snowfall totaling more than 6 feet in some areas. While the Buffalo area is used to dealing with heavy snowfall, this storm is delivering “much more. Erie County, which includes Buffalo, experienced its largest-ever amount of snowfall in a 24-hour period Saturday. Snowvember refers to a storm in the Buffalo area in November 2014, where nearly 7 feet of snow was dumped in three days. At least 13 people died in that storm and the weight of the snow caused dozens of roofs to crumble under the impact. Two people have died in this storm from cardiac complications related to shoveling snow and attempting to clear the ground.  As the heaviest snow slid south of the greater Buffalo area into southern Erie and Chautauqua counties overnight, an additional 6 to 18 inches is possible in the region.

Lamar County officials declared a disaster after at least 10 people were injured when a tornado tore through the area, two of those injured suffered critical injuries, a first responder was injured during the storms in the county and underwent surgery. In nearby Hopkins County, at least four houses were damaged Friday. In Oklahoma, a Choctaw County woman was injured by a falling tree as she was trying to get to a storm shelter.

At least two people have been killed after tornadoes hit Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas late Friday, damaging homes and knocking out power for thousands as officials launch search and rescue efforts. The storms claimed lives in Oklahoma and Texas. On Saturday morning, Stitt toured the city of Idabel, in McCurtain County in southeastern Oklahoma, which suffered significant storm damage. More than 100 homes and businesses were destroyed due to the tornado. Late Friday, authorities were trying to determine the extent of damage and injuries, according to McCurtain County emergency manager Cody McDaniel. “It’s not good,” he said. Rescue teams, along with generators, had been deployed to the Idabel area, and he added there was “additional flash flooding in some areas.” The storm has also united people.

Support Victims of Morbi, India's Bridge Collapse: Police in western India arrested nine people on Monday as they investigate the collapse of a newly repaired 143-year-old suspension bridge in one of the country's worst accidents in years. The collapse Sunday evening in Gujarat state plunged hundreds of people into a river, killing at least 134. As families mourned the dead, attention turned to why the pedestrian bridge, built during British colonialism in the late 1800s and touted by the state's tourism website as an "artistic and technological marvel," collapsed and who might be responsible. The bridge had reopened just four days earlier. It was reopened nearly seven months later, on Oct. 26, the first day of the Gujarati New Year, which coincides with the Hindu festival season, and the attraction drew hundreds of sightseers. Authorities said the structure collapsed under the weight of hundreds of people. A security video of the disaster showed it shaking violently and people trying to hold on to its cables and metal fencing before the aluminum walkway gave way and crashed into the river. The bridge split in the middle with its walkway hanging down, its cables snapped. Police said at least 134 people were confirmed dead and many others were admitted to hospitals in critical condition. Emergency responders and rescuers worked overnight and throughout Monday to search for survivors. State minister Harsh Sanghvi said most of the victims were teenagers, women and older people. At least 177 survivors were pulled from the river.

Consider telling your loved ones and others beforehand about what you’re going through. Chemotherapy may cause swelling, bone thinning, bone and joint pain, scarring from surgery, sex drive may slow.

Florida has 33,000 people in shelters, and need 5.5 million meals, and 6.6 liters of clean drinking water. The city of Fort Myers Beach on Florida's southwest coast was leveled by Hurricane Ian, two-thirds down the island, and I'd say 90% of the island is pretty much gone, where homes stood, there's only rubble. Hurricane Ian tossed large boats around like they were "toys" in Florida. The hurricane left millions of people without power and a trail of destruction across Florida as it trapped hundreds of locals inside their flooded homes. Cape Coral reporting significant damage to homes and buildings. Calls that have been coming in are from people still in their homes who have experienced some type of roof, window or door failure. The extremely dangerous conditions that this category 4 hurricane is unleashing, including catastrophic floods and life-threatening storm surge, will continue as the storm advances inland. Florida has surpassed 800,000 customers without power. Lee County, home to Fort Myers and Cape Coral, is still the most affected with more than 293,000 customer power outages. Collier County, which includes Naples and Marco Island, has more than 129,000 customers without power. Sarasota County, which includes the cities of Sarasota and Siesta Key, is at more than 112,000 customers without power.

Monday five rescue workers were killed in the aftermath of Typhoon Noru, a super typhoon at its peak of around 160 miles per hour, a super typhoon at its peak of around 160 miles per hour. The storm is picking up strength again, however, as it approaches Vietnam. The people don't know how to start their lives again, the destruction along the coastline showed homes and power lines down. People waded through chest high water to retrieve belongings from their submerged homes. Luzon, which accounts for more than two-thirds of the economy and roughly half of the country’s 110 million population, started clean-up operations as floods in the capital region had started subsiding.

Hurricane Fiona pulled buildings into the ocean, collapsed homes, toppled trees and knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of people. Nova Scotia, where Fiona first made landfall during the early morning hours Saturday, was hit hard by the storm. Powerful winds toppled "an incredible amount" of trees and power lines, washed out roads, littered neighborhoods with debris, and in many cases, snapped whole power poles in half. The devastating damage will take time to recover in Nova Scotia. People have seen their homes washed away, seen the winds rip schools' roofs off, leaving thousands of people needing your help. Several provinces were impacted by the heavy winds and rain. More than 370,000 customers were still without power early Sunday across Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick. In Prince Edward Island's Charlottetown, police shared images of downed power lines over buildings, fallen trees blocking roadways and piercing through structures. In Newfoundland, video showed buildings floating in water and submerged cars under heavy rains. A woman was rescued from the water after her house collapsed, the damage was breathtaking. In Port aux Basques, first responders were dealing with multiple electrical fires, residential flooding and washouts. Port aux Basques is now under a boil water order, and power was still out for many residents. Concrete barriers were also set up around areas that were rendered "danger zones" by the storm.

The entire island of Puerto Rico was without power on Sunday as Hurricane Fiona made landfall and threatened to cause "catastrophic flooding" and landslides. The storm knocked out the territory's power grid -- which remains fragile after Hurricane Maria caused the largest blackout in U.S. history in 2017. The storm made landfall with maximum sustained winds of over 85 miles per hour. U.S. President Joe Biden declared a state of emergency Sunday. 

Support Victims Mosquito Fire California: We are working to assist those affected, but there is a dire need for shelter, food, and water due to the rising number of displaced families. A fast-moving wildfire scorching through Northern California has destroyed dozens of homes and is creating dangerous smoke conditions in regions farther north. The Mosquito Fire has burned through nearly 49,000 acres and has gutted at least 25 single occupancy residences in El Dorado and Placer counties. More than 11,000 people in the region have been ordered to evacuate. Both the El Dorado and Tahoe National Forests are closed because of the Mosquito Fire, officials said. The fire is so intense that the smoke being emitted is producing hazardous air quality conditions for states farther north and east. Large plumes of smoke were seen covering the city of Reno, Nevada.

In Oregon, where 10 wildfires were actively burning Sunday, containment of the Cedar Creek Fire sparked by lightning storm on August 1 -- dropped from 12% to 0% as the fire exploded in size by more than 32,000 acres over the weekend, now swallowing 85,926 acres in very steep and difficult to access terrain. As wildfires tore through the parched lands, Oregonians were also contending with power shutoffs. Thousands of customers in Oregon, including those in the suburbs of Portland, were without power for part of the weekend.

The Rum Creek Fire, about a 50-mile drive northwest of Medford, has burned 4,319 acres. Evacuation orders were issued Friday and Saturday for a rural area in Oregon's Josephine County, including the small communities of Rand and Galice, county. It's unsafe for them to stay and threatens their safety, and the safety of emergency responders. Their life could be in great danger form this fire.

Since mid-June, when the monsoon began, more than 3,000 kilometers (1,864 miles) of road, 130 bridges and 495,000 homes have been damaged.

Education Is Valuable: The statistics prove that opting out of a university degree will dramatically hurt people in the long run, damaging their earning potential, increasing the likelihood of unemployment, and decreasing job satisfaction. 

Seventy two percent of millennials ages 25-32 Say their degree has already paid off. The simple fact is that you make more money when you go to college. College grads age 25-32 earn $17,000.00 more each year.   

Millennials without a degree are three times more likely to say their job is just to help them get by. They live from paycheck to paycheck, have almost zero job satisfaction. Almost four times more millennials without a college degree live in poverty. The path out of poverty almost always run through college. 

The unemployment rate for millennials without a college degree is three times as high than those with a degree. Think of a university education as a parachute of sorts. It won’t totally spare from falling when things get bad, but it will slow down your fall dramatically.

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month.
